In following up to my post from Thursday, December 30, "At Auction: Marilyn Monroe Worn Dress...From Robert Slatzer?" I'm pleased to announce that the dress failed to sell at auction. The online website www.proxibid.com, simply indicates, "PASSED $0.00This lot was not sold." To view the online auction, click here. The estimate for this dress was an incredible $8,000.00 to $12,000.00. Not a bad estimate had the dress been authentic.
Interestingly, the very next lot in the auction, a "Marilyn Monroe Owned Jewelry Pouch and Handkerchief" sold for $600.00, and absolutely zero provenance was provided. To view that auction lot, click here.
